A design is a plan or specification for the construction of an object or system or for the implementation of an activity or process, or the result of that plan or specification in the form of a prototype, product or process. The verb to design expresses the process of developing a design.
As a designer, I have an eye for grids and patterns, an understanding of layout, plot drawings and plans. I have good communication and listening skills, and spatial design skills as they relate to dimension and structure. Like all artists, as a furniture designer, I possess a keen sense of aesthetic beauty and a good eye for detail. This is all transferred into my work and the results speak for themselves.
A design mindset is not problem-focused, it's solution-focused and action-oriented. It involves both analysis and imagination. Design thinking is linked to creating an improved future and seeks to build ideas up – unlike critical thinking, which breaks them down. Problem-solving is making something go away by innovation & creation.
